A part of the rich community life at McCormick is created by students and their families living together in McCormick Residential Facilities. Our two residential buildings, which house around half of McCormick masters students, are within walking distance of McCormick's offices, classrooms and librar The residences are located in the neighborhood of Hyde Park, which is located on Lake Michigan and seven miles south of downtown Chicago. Hyde Park is home to 43,000 people and has a history of social activism, political leadership, and community life and is also the site of renowned museums and architectural landmarks. The area was settled in the 1850s as an elegant suburb and is among the most desirable places to live in the City of Chicago. The 1400 Building is located at 1400 E. 57th Street. The 1400 Building is a seven-story elevator building. It has carpeted two and three bedroom apartments with central heat and air conditioning. The 1400 building has a parking lot and a beautiful large terrace that goes all the way around the 1400 building where many of the community events take place. The Kimbark Building is located at 5535-39 S. Kimbark Avenue. The Kimbark Building is a three story walk-up building. It has one and two bedroom apartments with beautiful hardwood floors and ceiling fans. Apartments have hot water radiant heating and one window air conditioner unit per apartment. Each section has a small patio for grilling. Appliances include a self cleaning gas range, refrigerator, and a microwave in both residential buildings. All utilities, including high-speed Internet access, monthly telephone service, local calls, and voicemail, are included in the rent. Apartment for Families or Individuals Apartments are located in both buildings and consist of a living room, dining area, kitchen, one to three bedrooms and one to two baths. Apartments are unfurnished. Monthly rent for 2009-10 ranges from $720 to $1100. Shared Apartments Shared three-bedroom apartments are available for students without families in the 1400 Building. Students each have a private bedroom and share two bathrooms, a kitchen, study, and a common area. Students may arrange for roommates of their choice or be assigned roommates by residential staff. Monthly rent for 2009-10 for a shared space is $420. ![]() There are also two-bedroom apartments, designed to be shared by two students who are not married to each other. Each bedroom has a private bathroom. These apartments are in the Kimbark building. Monthly rent for 2009-10 for this option is $570. Guest Rooms Are mostly private rooms with shared bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas that are available in the 1400 Building for Doctor of Ministry students, commuting students, and short-term guests.
