MISSION STATEMENT – The First Presbyterian Church of La Grange, Texas is a fellowship of faith founded on the grace and love of God revealed in Jesus Christ, Savior and Lord of all creation. Through the power of the Spirit we are committed to sharing the good news of the gospel with the world in word and deed, and empowering our members for ministry through worship, prayer, education, nurture and encouragement.
VISION – Our vision is to be a welcoming church that spreads the gospel in our community by worshipping God together as a committed, Christian family. We welcome all visitors, care for our members and our community and actively seek new members so we may continue to grow and serve.
EMERGING NEEDS – Our members have a strong connection as a church family and with others in the community. We are actively involved in many community missions, including a resale emporium, food pantry and area hospice, to name a few.
POSITION AND PASTOR CHARACTERISTICS – We are looking for someone who will guide us, challenge our thinking and help us to grow spiritually. We seek a pastor who will feel a personal commitment to our members and our community and will partner with other area clergy in ecumenical worship and community service. Our ideal candidate will feel comfortable in a small church in a centrally located rural community. We are searching for a minister who is well-educated, is a lifelong learner and can deliver Bible based sermons with a clear message which members can “take home”. Our congregation is educated, independent, recognizes the importance of pastoral care and values its relationship with PCUSA.
