Dr. Jeanne Porter King is called to lead and to make a difference in the lives of others. She serves as the Executive Pastor at Christ Community Church, outside Chicago, along with her husband, Dr. Carl E. King, Sr. At Christ Community Church she heads the leadership and ministry development processes of the church, leads the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team, and shares preaching responsibility. “Dr. J,” as she is affectionately called by the congregation, has a heart for God and for the people of God.
Dr. J is a gifted teacher, and in addition to teaching at Christ Community Church, she is a popular conference and retreat speaker and serves as an adjunct professor and lead in Certificate for Executive Leadership Program at McCormick Theological Seminary. Dr. J serves on the Board for CBE International - a Christian Women’s Advocacy organization. Her areas of academic teaching and popular writing are leadership and spiritual formation.
Dr. J also ministers in the marketplace as the founder and principal consultant of the TransPorter Group Inc., whose purpose is to help create purposeful, transformative and empowering organizations. Through TransPorter’s extensive network of affiliate consultants, Dr. Jeanne provides leadership development, diversity and inclusion strategies, process facilitation and coaching to businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and churches. She has been blessed to lead programs in over fifteen countries. Dr. Jeanne Porter King is a Board-Certified Coach and faculty member for the Institute for Management Studies.
Dr J. is the author of numerous books and articles on leadership, including Leading Ladies, Leading Lessons, Building a Church Full of Leaders, Pursue Your Dreams, and That’s What She Said: 366 Leadership Quotes By Women. Her latest book is Influence Starts with “I:” A Woman’s Guide for Unleashing the Power of Leading From Within And Effecting Change Around You.
Dr. J received both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, the Master of Arts of Theological Studies (with an emphasis on spiritual formation and leadership) from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago and the Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Communication from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
