Journeys in Genesis: Unveiling Migration Stories in the Bible
JOURNEYS IN GENESIS: Unveiling Migration Stories in the Bible (Theodore Hiebert, Eleazar Gonzales, Erika Severino, Hector Caudillo, Patrishea Roldán, Raúl Uriarte Jr, Rebeca DeLeon, Rigo Guerra, Sashmarie Rivera, Sergio Zavala): The book of Genesis is a collection of migration stories, but they have been hidden from us. Our aim is to unveil them here. We are used to reading these journeys as the journeys of shepherds following their flocks. But they are not. They are the migrations of Israel’s ancestors, leaving their homes in Canaan, crossing administrative borders, and relocating as immigrants in neighboring countries.
They have been written from the perspectives of the immigrants themselves. Lacking the protections, status, and identity of their homes, they have no rights or land abroad and are completely dependent on their host countries. They tell us about the challenges and opportunities of becoming immigrants. And they trust in God to protect them.
