Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago 2022 Awards Breakfast

On October 26, the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago will present the 2022 Community Excellence Awards to the Rev. Dr. B. Herbert Martin, Sr., and Ms. Sandra Lewis at its inaugural Awards Breakfast at Hilton Chicago.

Rev. Dr. B. Herbert Martin, Sr. is the immediate past president of the Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago and pastor emeritus of Progressive Community Church in Chicago. 

Ms. Sandra Lewis is the former director of external affairs or Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle and staff member for Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, during this time working with religious institutions. 

The program will include updates on current Council initiatives with the Chicago Police Department, with local congregations, and with the next generation of religious leaders in our community. It also will feature a keynote presentation from John J. Farmer, director of the Eagleton Institute of Politics and of the Miller Center for Community Protection and Resilience at Rutgers University, on the crisis of mistrust and the challenges it poses to our democratic society.
