Additional Pathway: Interschool DMin Program
McCormick participates in the Interschool Doctor of Ministry Program, a full-time, residential program coordinated by Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in partnership with McCormick Theological Seminary and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC).
In this pathway, students:
Enroll full-time in an in-person, residential program on CTU’s campus
Complete all coursework in one academic year, followed by an extended thesis in the second year
Take most of their coursework at CTU, regardless of whether they apply through McCormick, CTU, or LSTC
Because of its full-time, residential structure and traditional semester schedule, the Interschool DMin often best fits the needs of international students who plan to enter the U.S. on a student visa and must maintain full-time study.
Prerequisites for the program include an MDiv degree or its equivalent and five years of ministerial experience in the area of concentration. The program consists of full-time study for one year plus a thesis. Concentrations include:
Cross-Cultural Ministries: for persons with experience in cross-cultural ministries who wish to advance the integration of knowledge and skill in this ministry.
Liturgy: for persons who have served in positions of liturgical leadership who wish to advance the integration of their knowledge and skill in this leadership.Spirituality: for persons with experience in spiritual formation and leadership who wish to advance the integration of knowledge and skill in this ministry.
Education for Witness: for those who hold a position of leadership in educating believers both in the knowledge and in the practice of their faith and wish to advance the integration of knowledge and skill in this leadership.
Hispanic Theology and Ministry: is designed for ministry and leadership in churches in Latino/a communities, bringing together the lived praxis of those communities with the unique body of theological literature that has emerged from Hispanic theologians.
Admission to this program follows the regular application and admissions process of McCormick Theological Seminary for those students who desire to receive the degree from McCormick.
A separate Interschool Doctor of Ministry application and $55 application fee is required. Enrollment is limited each year.
Domestic students must submit by March 1; International students must apply by December 1st of the year preceding the desired matriculation date.
