It’s a Brand New Day

02-06-2024

If I were to share with you everything McCormick has accomplished in the last year, the list would be very long indeed. I suspect that for many of you the most notable item on that list would be the sale of the campus we shared with the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) for the past twenty years to the University of Chicago. While I cannot deny the sale was certainly historic, I would suggest that our move—and the move of our good friends at LSTC— into beautiful, newly built-out space at the Catholic Theological Union (CTU), just blocks east of the campus we shared with LSTC, has the potential to have impact far beyond the walls of our new home. It is a tangible demonstration of hope and unity in a city, country, and world desperately in need of both.

This last year has been a time of change and transition, a time to break down and time to build up, a time to keep, and a time to throw away. It has been a time to imagine: a new home, a new era of collaboration and cooperation with neighbors, an institution unencumbered by long-term debt and the capital needs of an aging building. While we honor and give thanks for the many memories of what has been, we are excited and grateful for all the good things ahead.

It’s been just six months since we signed our lease with CTU. In that very short time, we selected our architects, designed our new space, bid the project, hired our general contractor, and built out our new home in two phases. And did it all under budget. We are just down to punch list items, but we wanted to share with you a sneak peek at our new home.

We hope you’ll love it as much as we do.
