Hazel Mack, Esq.

Hazel Mack moved to Winston-Salem as a child and came of age amid the city’s 1960s racial tensions, experiences that sparked a lifelong commitment to civil rights. Educated in segregated schools, she became active in the movement—including engagement with the Black Panther Party—before earning undergraduate degrees from Shaw University and Winston-Salem State University and a law degree from Temple University. Mack built her career in public-interest law with Legal Services in Philadelphia and later in Winston-Salem, where she handled impactful landlord-tenant cases and expanded access to justice. She also served as an adjunct and clinical instructor at Wake Forest School of Law, mentoring the next generation of advocates. A persistent voice for equity, Mack continues to champion reforms that strengthen public education and community well-being.
