Pastor Anthony L. Bennett
Rev. Dr. Anthony L. Bennett is Lead Pastor of Mount Aery Baptist Church (Bridgeport, CT)—a Morehouse and Union Theological Seminary alum with a DMin from United Theological Seminary—whose vocation spans preaching, teaching, and community organizing. Formed in ministry at Saint Paul Community Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood, he has launched transformative initiatives at Mount Aery (Leadership Institute, P.L.U.G., R.E.F.U.G.E.) and chairs the Mount Aery Development Corporation. A civic leader, he partnered with Optimus Healthcare to open the Hollow Community primary care center (2006), co-chairs CONECT (an IAF affiliate), and has led regional coalitions for equity and public health; he has preached and taught at Yale, Harvard, and Fairfield, and served as guest chaplain to the U.S. House of Representatives (2009). Nationally, he has advanced responsible gun manufacturing with Metro IAF delegations to Germany, Austria (2014), and the U.K. (2016). He also created the MAAFA Influence—a large-scale psychodrama on the African Diaspora experienced by 10,000+ people. A Los Angeles native and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., he and his wife, Donna M. Thompson-Bennett, J.D., cherish their family, including son Ahmad L. Bennett, granddaughter Nylah M. Tucker, and the memory of Brittany L. Tucker.
